Personal Background:
Rinko was born on April 6, 1972 in Shiga, Japan. I wasn't able to find the names of her parents. She has been doing solo exhibitions since 1998 and group exhibitions since 2000. She graduated from Seian University of Art and Design (ex Seian Women’s College) in 1993. She lives and works in Tokyo, Japan. I couldn't find anything saying if she was married or not, so as far as I know, she lives alone. She has published 23 times, has had about 20 solo exhibitions, and about 15 group exhibitions.

Style:
She is an experimental photographer, meaning she likes to “play around” and try new things to find new and unique ways of taking photos. She likes to take pictures of things that are normally avoided when taking pictures. She gets her inspiration from sleeping and meditating. “I create my own version of a story that's abstract and poetic” - Rinko Kawauchi. She likes to have the pictures speak for themselves, so she doesn’t give the individual pictures titles, she only names the collections of pictures.

Philosophy:
She doesn't like to describe events, so for her, photography is an excellent way of expressing herself. She also writes haiku poems, and for her are easier to express herself with than just words. “One haiku is like a one picture. I don’t describe my images, I say it within haiku. At the same time, my images are poetic” - Rinko Kawachi. She says that photography is proof of her life.

Influences:
I really admire the way she experiments with her images and takes pictures of things that you would not normally think of when finding something to take a picture of. I also like how she uses photography to express herself and uses it instead of words. I like how she only names a collection, not each individual picture letting the picture speak for itself. I like how she doesn't just use normal lighting. She experiments with different tints and lightings on her photos.

The one on the left is the original, while the picture on the left is my recreation. The original has a blue tint that I was not able to get when taking the picture, so I made a new layer fully blue. After that, I turned the opacity down so that you could see the picture underneath.
Like before, the first picture is the original, and the second my recreation. I first took a picture that I took of a dandelion and put it into photopea then I made two new layers, one for the white I put on top, of the puff, the second was for the black in the background. I think that I should have used a more yellow white, but it definitely turned out much better than I was expecting.
Like the two before this one, the picture on the right is the original, and the one on the left is mine. The process was pretty much the same as the ant picture with the blue tint. I think that my picture came out a bit grayer than I would have liked, but I think I did a good job otherwise.
Personal Artist Statement:
For the ant picture I couldn't get an alive ant to stay still enough, so I had to use a dead ant I found in my room (we just had a big infestation of ants, so it was not very hard to find). There are definitely things where if I redid the picture, I would change. The things I would change however are not so big where I feel like I should re-do the pictures now. All in all, I think I did a pretty good job on the pictures.
